Late May - Early June

Hope Africa University (HAU) in Bujumbura, Burundi currently serves over 5,000 students each year from many schools and 14 countries of the world. With a mission to transform students for character development and service through professional and academic programs, HAU desires to continue to sustainably grow across multiple campuses to transform even more students each year for the purpose of glorifying God and serving humanity.

EMI is privileged to once again come alongside HAU to develop a Master Plan that will be used to facilitate HAU's goals for growth into the foreseeable future. Through thoughtfully planned out campuses, HAU will be able to transform even more graduates who will solve individual, community and regional problems.

Project Scope

It is a privilege to continue our partnership with Hope Africa University (HAU) for the master plan and conceptual building and infrastructure design project. The scope for this project team will be to perform the second of two anticipated projects – a master plan with conceptual building and infrastructure design that will be based on the information gathered from the previous project that performed an overall infrastructure assessment and space utilization study.

In the first project, our team documented the existing campuses (Main Campus (Ngagara), Van Norman Clinic, and Mt. Hope Campus) in terms of existing building floorplans, water, wastewater, and electrical utilities; and performed a visual structural review of the existing buildings. In addition, the team documented space utilization and the desired changes for each department of the university. The goal of this first project was to develop a good understanding of the existing campuses, their opportunities and constraints, and the university’s goals for the next several years. This information will be used to guide EMI’s second project team to develop the facility master plan, phasing and conceptual design of select buildings.

In this second project, our project team will develop a master plan for both the Main Campus (Ngagara) and the Mt. Hope campus, conceptual architectural designs for one building on each campus, and provide recommendations for the water, wastewater and electrical infrastructure on both campuses.

We plan to mobilize a team of EMI staff and volunteers to Burundi for a 2 week trip in late May to early June. Will you prayerfully consider using your gifts and talents to serve Hope Africa University? Click "I'm interested" above if you would like more information.
