EMI is excited to partner with Chegelo School to provide an assessment of existing school facilities and planning for improvements. Rapid growth at the school over the past 3 years has strained existing infrastructure and facilities. In order to continue to provide high-quality education for students, the school is looking to identify and address deficiencies. In addition, the school growth has impacted several partner sites including a church and an outdoor centre. Along with on-site improvements, Chegelo leaders hope to utilize EMI's help to assist with upgrades to these other locations.

Project Scope

Chengelo School is nestled on a 300-Ha agricultural parcel in rual Zambia and serves as a boarding school for both primary and secondary school children. The school grew quickly between 2018 and 2021, increasing from 200 students to over 500 students. The growth has strained an already ageing infrastructure on the campus, has caused extra demand on the agricultural production which provides food for the staff and students, and has also impacted nearby off-site facilities. EMI has been asked to assess the site to identify key deficiencies with recommendations for improvements. We will also provide master planning for program or facility changes and assess agricultural performance for potential production increases.
