June 30th - July 9th

EMI Nicaragua is delighted to be collaborating with Arbor Christian Academy on the master plan and concept design of their new school facilities.

Arbor Christian Academy was founded in 2017 by Teach Beyond and is located in the centre of San Francisco de Macorís, in the north of the Dominican Republic. The school currently provides education in rented facilities to just over 100 children from across the social spectrum, preschool to Grade 6.

Their vision is to provide an exemplary Christian education that allows every student and their family the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. Their mission is to “Equip the mind and educate the heart to impact the nation.”

Project Scope

The academy has recently acquired a 10,000m2 (2.5 acre) undeveloped property to the south of the city where they wish to build permanent facilities for the school. They currently envision the project construction taking place in five phases:

  1. Administration building, elementary classrooms, kitchen, and basketball court
  2. Cafetorium, learning commons
  3. Preschool building
  4. Student commons, covered sport court, gymnasium (outdoor covered sport court), playground, futsal field
  5. Secondary school

The goal of the new elementary school and preschool in phases 1-3 is to enable growth of up to approximately 300, including staff.

EMI will provide a master plan for all five phases and conceptual architectural, structural, electrical, water and wastewater system design for phases 1 and 2.

If you feel called to volunteer your time, skills and expertise as we partner with Arbor Christian Academy on this exciting, Christ centred project, then we would love to hear from you.
