July 12-20th, 2024

Are you considering joining EMI long term but wrestling with the idea of what this would realistically look like for you (and your family)?

We get it. The decision to quit your job and move yourself, family, and belongings across the world seems crazy. Besides the logistics to consider, there are many emotional and spiritual questions raised as well.

This is why we are offering a one-week exploratory trip to our Uganda office for you to step into the vision of life as an EMI staff. Because it is one of our well established and vibrant offices, EMI Uganda will give you a taste of EMI as a whole.

Interested volunteers are welcome from all backgrounds and disciplines within the design and construction industry. This trip is exploratory - no long-term commitment is required to participate, simply a willingness to see where God may be leading you. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to participate as well.

Project Scope

We will spend time visiting locations where EMI has been involved including past and current projects in Uganda. This will allow time for observing local construction methods and management practices. We will also spend time interacting with EMI-Uganda’s staff (local and international) and experience everyday life in East Africa.  Specifics of the itinerary will be catered to the attendees - for example we can visit international schools if applicable for your children.

Please note: this trip is geared towards experienced professionals considering an international move to join into the work of EMI around the world.  With few exceptions, these will be support-raised positions.  If that doesn't describe you, we recommend that you first contact the office of your home culture at this link.
