The Sustainable Development Program of PNG is focused on providing lasting benefits for the people of Papua New Guinea with the current emphasis on Western Province. The province is very remote and many villages only have access by small aircraft or small boat.

Out of necessity in some villages, the practice for providing housing has come through imported pre-fabricated units from outside of PNG. SDP is in need of a local solution to continue to provide for the needs of the people of Western Province.

Project Scope

Building materials in the rural Western PNG are limited and importing materials is unsustainable. SDP PNG is in need of a long-lasting design of a small 2-bedroom home and a 10 person dormitory that can be duplicated across many villages. The buildings will consider local timber materials and practices with ability to repair and maintain the facilities locally.

The finished building designs will consider the buildings as well as sanitation, water, and solar solutions. These facilities will open up long lasting opportunities for remote villages to be supported and reached with the Gospel.
