The organization SDP is focused on providing lasting benefits for the people of Papua New Guinea through promoting health, education, livelihoods and infrastructure in Western Province.

Project Scope

In recent years, SDP has rapidly developed the Balimo Hub located in Western Province as a response to the needs of communities in a remote region of the country. This master plan workshop aims to solidify masterplanning efforts with the immediate and longterm needs at Balimo and the surrounding communities. The vision for the Balimo Hub is to serve as an education center that will support training and educating future generations that will address the development needs in PNG.

The project team will be confirming remote masterplan work from 2024 with the ground conditions at the hub and holding workshops with community stakeholders to inform further efforts in the hub masterplan. The team will also be reviewing infrastructure capacities and plan for future developement needs in electrical, water and wastewater demands. This project is a great opportunity to apply experience and skills towards future developement that will have lasting impact in the region and the people of PNG.

Please note that the trip will include in-country travel on small aircraft. Volunteers need to be comfortable operating in remote areas.
