Quality Schools International (QSI) is one of the largest non-profit education organizations in the world with 37 schools around the world and over 50 years in providing education. In order to ensure that their facilities are safe and promote a learning environment, QSI has partnered with EMI to assess several of their existing facilities.
Project Scope
This project trip will focus on two of QSI's school facilities, one located in Kosovo and the other in Albania. The team will arrive in Kosovo to assess the first facility which is an office building that was renovated to fit the schools needs. After one day of review of the facility on site, the team will present a prioritized improvements list to the school director while addresssing any specific development needs requested. After completing the facility review in Kosovo, the team will travel by van to Albania to review the second QSI facility. The school in Albania is a purpose built facility with additions made to meet the schools growth needs. Similar as the facility in Kosovo, the team will review the facility on site for one day and present a prioritized improvements list to the school director.
This project is key in helping the school directors to have confidence in their facilities and address needs that will encourage an excellent learning environment for children. The ideal volunteer candidate has experience in strucutral or general building inspections.
