EMI is honored to partner with Eglise Inkuru-Nziza Church as they embark on a journey to investigate new solutions to the long-term financial sustainability of the church and their broader mission in Rwanda.

With this project EMI will partner with the Church in investigating whether one of their main assets, a ministry centre in Kigali, can be redeveloped into a mixed-use urban centre incorporating the ministry components, as well as commercial and residential opportunities. The vision is for key landholdings to be developed into productive financial contributors to the church’s mission.

Further information on the ministry: Eglise Inkuru-Nziza Church began in Rwanda in 1960 when its founders arrived from Burundi to build the kingdom of God. Upon reaching Kigali, they saw a great need for people to move beyond nominal religion into a genuine relationship with God. They began spreading the Gospel through radio broadcasts, biblical tracts, film screenings, and discipleship courses.

Since its inception, the number of believers has continued to grow. Today, Inkuru Nziza Rwanda comprises 178 churches with 21,000 members across the country. The ministry also operates a theological training center, three primary schools, one secondary school, ten nursery schools, a hospital, a project supporting orphans and widows, and eight additional projects supported by Compassion International, serving at least 2,000 children.

Project Scope

Our team's scope will include development of three potential development scenarios, conceptual building design, site infrastructure planning, and a cost and viability assessment of the three development scenarios.

  • Client Vision:  The team will start with workshops with the Client to further develop client vision and mission, thus assisting in determining the key outcomes of the project.
  • Programming:   Programming will include assessing ministry needs on the site to inform overall program, and then developing three commercial development scenarios to assess the most viable development solutions to provide an ongoing source of income to the church.
  • Conceptual Building Design: providing building concepts that include floor plans, elevations, and basic 3D images for the development scenarios.
  • Site Infrastructure Planning: Assess site conditions and typical practices, and provide recommendations for water, wastewater, drainage, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Financial viability:  Assess the development costs of the three scenarios, and then project long term income generation capacity to determine the most viable long term income generation solutions.
