Uganda Newsletter, January
Dear Friends of EMI Uganda,
Welcome to the New Year! The old has gone, and the new has come.
At this particular turn of the calendar year, we at EMI Uganda are experiencing New Hope, New Partnerships, and New Inspiration for our 20-year-old mission!
New Hope
The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians that once we were separated from God, without hope (Ephesians 2). But with the advent of Christ, the Word-made-Flesh, we are brought near to God and filled with a new and living hope!
Paul goes on to say that our new hope brings a wide diversity of followers together in unity:
All peoples called by God are also formed by God into a single body! At EMI Uganda we desire to live fully into this identity as a united body of Christ – the hope of our calling.
May the watching world see our Christian unity as we walk in this hope!
New Partnerships
We believe God ordains each of our ministry partnerships, and 2024 already promises some unique and Kingdom-worthy projects.
This month EMI Uganda will lead a multi-disciplinary team to serve the Anglican Church of DR Congo.
The Diocese of Goma has invited EMI to master plan the first of its theological colleges, and to redesign a more suitable space for its blossoming gospel radio station Radio Sauti ya Injili which reaches over one million listeners every year.
This Diocese is a model of ecumenical cooperation and a beacon of hope in a very needy part of the world; it is a profound privilege to serve alongside them.
New Inspiration for our “Old” Mission
A new year is amazing and full of potential, but the mission of EMI Uganda remains the same:
Developing people, designing structures, and constructing facilities that serve communites and the Church.
The Apostle Paul further defines our calling:
Our new inspiration for the old mission is the fullness of Christ himself! At the core of EMI Uganda, we take up a posture of humble discipleship towards maturity in Christ in all that we do.
We invite you to pray with us that all in our care grow up into the fullness of Christ.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and support! EMI Uganda would not be what we are without you, and we pray that you too would experience the new and fresh hope of God in 2024!
Grace and peace,
Philip Greene
