In this issue of the EMI Canada Newsletter, we're excited to share our 2020 Annual Report with you. What a year it was, with much collective and personal upheaval and adjustment. Through it all, we witnessed God's faithfulness in providing EMI Canada with the resources, creativity, partnerships, and energy we needed to carry on our work: designing a world of hope.
You'll also read about the project work that EMI Canada has been undertaking thus far in 2021. While we've been restricted in travelling internationally, we've certainly kept busy serving partner ministries remotely.
Also highlighted are this year's EMI Canada fundraising events, including the upcoming Ride for Refuge. You can also learn more about the EMI USA Network Conference, happening in-person and online this October. All are welcome to take part in this connecting and training event alongside the wider EMI community.
You, our faithful friends and partners across Canada, continue to drive our work and impact. Looking back at 2020, I'm grateful for all you've done to support and sustain EMI Canada; and I'm grateful for an unchanging God in the midst of changing circumstances.
Greg Young
Executive Director, EMI Canada
With gratitude, we present our 2020 Annual Report. We see this report as a marker of God's faithfulness in the midst of changing circumstances; and His provision in the midst of uncertainty.
At EMI Canada, we design a world of hope by mobilizing design professionals who deliver design services that further the vision and impact of ministry partners around the world. As the COVID-19 pandemic began unfolding, it became apparent that we would need to adapt to continue serving in this way. We had many questions. If we couldn't send teams overseas, how would we continue serving ministry partners? With several key revenue streams disrupted, and without the ability to carry out our usual in-person fundraising events, how would we fill revenue gaps? How would we continue to advance the vision of EMI across Canada and beyond in such a restricted season?
God provided answers to all of these questions, and provided the required opportunities and resources. Through God's grace, technology, collaboration, and the faithful partnership of people like you, we continued serving ministry partners around the world, delivering hope through design.
