City Vision University

EMI Automated Percolation Tester VIEDO

The automated percolation tester is used to perform a complete soil percolation test with high precision and minimal user interaction. The primary goal of the device is to ensure that all EMI percolation tests are performed to the standard specified in the EMI Civil Design Guide Section A3.3.1 as consistently as possible. 

This video serves as the user manual for the device and should accompany the User Manual. As such, it does not include all of the design details for the device. Those details can be found in the EMI R&D document 5.01.01.003 Auto-Percolation Tester Design Manual.

Hand augers are used to quickly identify the subsurface conditions of a project site. Augers allow for a soil profile characterization free of discontinuities or missed areas that can occur when using other equipment such as a split spoon sampler, which produces a sample every 400 to 500mm.This is a part of the EMI GeoTech Design Guide Series.

EMI Geotechnical - How to use a wash sieve VIEDO

If your soil has a significant percent of fine-grained soils (over 10%), it is often necessary to “wash” the soil first. The wash sieve test utilizes a larger, reinforced No. 200 sieve to determine the percentage of fine-grained soils and coarse-grained soil. This is a part of the EMI GeoTech Design Guide Series.
