One of the unique aspects of partnering with EMI is the opportunity for employees to engage directly in the work their company supports. Employees can serve on 1-2 week project trips, where professional architects, planners, engineers, and surveyor volunteers contribute their expertise during the planning and concept design stages of projects around the world. Volunteers can also earn Continuing Education credit hours from going on a project trip.

In addition, our partners can engage in EMI's Mentorship Program, which connects your experienced professionals with young, emerging leaders pursuing careers in their home country.

No, EMI does not organize company-exclusive project trip teams. Instead, we intentionally build teams of volunteers from different companies, backgrounds, disciplines, and experience levels. We've found that this diversity strengthens both the design process and the volunteer experience. Our volunteers each bring unique perspectives that help create better solutions for the communities we serve.

Many volunteers tell us that one of the most valuable aspects of a project trip is the opportunity to collaborate with professionals they would not normally work alongside, learn from local leaders, and immerse themselves in a different culture. These experiences often lead to meaningful personal, professional, and leadership growth that extends well beyond the project itself.

While unrestricted giving is preferred because it allows us to respond quickly and maximize impact, we recognize that some companies have strategic priorities or geographic interests. In certain cases, we can explore opportunities to support specific regions or initiatives. We'd be happy to discuss those goals and determine what might be the best fit.
